Food

It is extremely difficult to be an adult with lingering food issues. Eating disorders have been considered to be the problems of teenagers and young people in the spotlight. Yet there are plenty of adults who are wandering around with undiagnosed food issues and there is a haunting for those who once had food issues and are now considered recovered.

Many women and some men in their thirties who had developed food issues in their teens are now finding that their symptoms are returning. Stress and loss are the two key ingredients that make up for the return of food issues, but sometimes there is no exact key. Many eating disorder clinics are now starting to shift their focus from teenagers to women and men in the thirties and forties, as this is becoming common enough for clinics to stay in business.

There is no denying that anyone living with food issues, whether they are from the past or newly developed struggles daily as they want to keep their adult life intact but they are constantly plagued by the need to either embrace or deny their food issues. Each meal time with the family becomes a struggle and holiday meals become sources of incredible stress. Getting help for food issues and eating disorders that are just now peeking their heads around the corning is the wisest call. Waiting until a food issue turns into a full blown eating disorder makes it much more difficult to come all the way back to health.
